Modet is a world-class, contemporary furtniture design studio based in County Cork.
We design and make furniture of the highest quality, for private clients, and high end commercial spaces.
Paul O’Brien and Catherine Mc Kenna founded Modet in 2017, with the goal of crafting elegant, beautiful, modern furniture for people to live with, use and enjoy, day after day.
All of our pieces are made to order, in our Cork workshop, by our skilled team of craftspeople, from ethically sourced FSC European and American hardwoods, and are designed and made to last a lifetime and more.
We think that furniture should be an investment that adds to the quality of your daily life through the simple pleasure of using it, day after day. Our furniture has a timeless style that will work in almost any space.
Our approach is uncompromising at every step of the process, from the initial design, through material selection, making and finishing, until your piece is delivered to its new home.
Paul — Lead designer and maker
With a background in art and sculpture, Paul trained in fine furniture making in the UK, and gained several years of experience working in high-end furniture studios, prior to founding Modet in 2017.
Catherine – Studio Manager
With a background in the arts and academia, Catherine is the Studio Manager of Modet, managing client relations for the studio.
Our Workshop
All of our furniture is made to order, by our team of master craftspeople, in our workshop in Cork, from the initial prototypes through to the final piece of furniture.
We use a combination of traditional hand skills and modern technology to achieve the perfect piece of furniture for you.
Visitors are welcome at the workshop to see how we turn a beautiful piece of timber into a beautiful piece of furniture. Please contact us in advance to arrange your visit.
