Our Story

Modet is a world-class, contemporary furniture design studio based in County Cork.

We design and make furniture of the highest quality, for private clients, and high end commercial spaces.

Paul O’Brien and Catherine Mc Kenna founded Modet in 2017, with the goal of crafting elegant, beautiful, modern furniture for people to live with, use and enjoy, day after day.

With a background in art and sculpture, Paul trained in fine furniture making in the UK, and gained several years of experience working in high-end furniture studios, prior to founding Modet.  Paul is the Creative Director for Modet.

With a background in literature and the arts, Catherine is the Studio Manager for Modet.

With a shared passion for creativity, aesthetics, art and design, Paul and Catherine run Modet with a vision for crafting world-class, contemporary furniture, designed and made completely in Ireland.

All of Modet’s pieces are made to order, by our team of skilled craftspeople, in our workshop in Cork.

Combining the skills of traditional fine-furniture making, with the best of modern technology, we use only ethically sourced FSC European and American hardwoods to craft our pieces.  Each piece of furniture is designed and made to last a lifetime and more.

Our approach is uncompromising at every step of the process, from the initial design, through material selection, making and finishing, until your piece is delivered to its new home.
